LeoLabs has secured a conditional loan commitment of up to $150 million from the U.S. Department of War's Office of Strategic Capital to expand its domestic radar manufacturing capacity. The financing is aimed at strengthening the company's U.S. supply chain and fielding additional sensing infrastructure for national security missions.
The company framed the move as a response to a more complex threat environment, in which national security increasingly depends on resilient, globally distributed sensing architectures able to close coverage gaps and adapt across missions. The commitment continues what LeoLabs described as a decade-long strategy of building and deploying multi-mission radars for U.S. and Allied national security requirements.
LeoLabs has developed a portfolio of radars to meet these needs. The lineup includes its fixed-site Seeker and Ranger radars, along with its transportable Scout-S radar, optimized for space domain awareness, and the Scout-X radar, optimized for missile warning and tracking. Together, the company said, these systems provide coverage, resilience, and operational flexibility to enhance battlespace awareness for space superiority and missile defense.
The Office of Strategic Capital financing will accelerate the expansion of LeoLabs' U.S. manufacturing capacity, including the completion of two large-scale manufacturing facilities by 2028. The added capacity is intended to let the company produce and field radars at speed and scale, adding dozens of systems to its global network by 2030. LeoLabs said it will also expand its ability to deliver sovereign radars for U.S. and Allied government customers.
"The U.S. Department of War has challenged industry to move with greater urgency, not only to meet today's mission needs, but to also anticipate and stay ahead of evolving threats," said Tony Frazier, Chief Executive Officer of LeoLabs. "This financing, coupled with private investment, enables us to answer that call by delivering our proven sensing capabilities faster and at greater scale to help strengthen U.S. national security."
LeoLabs said the commitment reflects the growing role of commercially developed sensing capabilities in defense architectures. The company cast the financing as part of its continued effort to build and deploy next-generation, multi-mission radars that meet current and future U.S. and Allied national security requirements.
The immediate milestones named by LeoLabs are the completion of two large-scale manufacturing facilities by 2028 and the addition of dozens of radar systems to its global network by 2030.
