L3Harris Technologies received a $36 million order from the U.S. Army to supply satellite communications terminals supporting the service's Command and Control Network Optimized for Warfighting program. The company announced the award on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, with deliveries set to begin in early 2027.
Under the delivery order, L3Harris will provide Hawkeye 4 Lite ground terminals to deliver expeditionary connectivity for tactical units and coalition forces. The procurement supports the Army's C2NOW initiative, a modernization effort designed to deliver scalable data processing and unified mission command down to brigade combat teams.
The terminals are configured to bolster interoperability with North Atlantic Treaty Organization partners, aligning with Tactically Responsive Space concepts that require rapid orbital and ground-segment activation. The order builds on previous modernization awards, including a $27 million U.S. Army SATCOM terminal contract to enhance expeditionary ground segment readiness.
The Hawkeye 4 Lite, first introduced as part of the company's Hawkeye 4 VSAT terminal product line, is a 1.3-meter man-portable flyaway very small aperture terminal. It is engineered for rapid assembly in contested tactical environments without specialized communications tools. The terminal features modular, swappable baseband and radio frequency components that support transmission across multiple frequency bands, including X-band, Ku-band, and Ka-band.
The hardware delivers multi-orbit connectivity across geostationary orbit and medium Earth orbit constellations. It is designed to ensure low-latency tactical voice, high-definition video, and mission command data transport at the tactical edge.
Deliveries under the order will begin in early 2027, with terminals slated for direct fielding to forward-deployed active and reserve brigade combat teams. The hardware integration marks a key phase in the Army's transition from legacy command architectures toward the distributed Next Generation Command and Control network.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in early 2027, with terminals fielded directly to forward-deployed active and reserve brigade combat teams as the Army advances its C2NOW and Next Generation Command and Control modernization milestones.
