Impulse Space Adds $308 Million to Series D, Bringing Round to $808 Million

Impulse Space announced a $308 million extension to its Series D round, lifting the combined total to $808 million. The company said the additional capital will fund product development and team growth as demand for post-launch mobility accelerates across commercial, civil, and government customers.

The Redondo Beach, California company positions itself as an in-space mobility provider building vehicles capable of fast, precise, and responsive movement after launch. Impulse said demand for these capabilities is rising across the space economy, driving the need for systems that can maneuver across orbits on demand.

The extension included participation from existing investors 137 Ventures, BANNER VC, DFJ Growth, Linse Capital, Lux Capital, and Valor Equity Partners, among others. Eric Romo, President and COO, said the company has more than doubled its headcount over the past year and expanded its footprint across the country. "This continued support from our investors strengthens our ability to build the systems that will unlock the space economy," Romo said.

Recent government awards underscore the company's momentum. Its Helios spacecraft was selected for the U.S. Space Force's National Security Space Launch Phase 3 Lane 1 contract, becoming the first upper stage prime awarded a position in the program. Impulse also received a $28 million contract extension from Space Systems Command's Space Safari Office to support the VICTUS SALO 2 and VICTUS SALO 3 missions, building on prior awards for its Mira spacecraft.

Impulse's product line includes Mira for precision maneuvering, Helios as a high-energy kick stage, and Caravan, a rideshare program. The company recently unveiled the Electra system for electric propulsion, complementing its existing chemical propulsion engines. The Helios kick stage is powered by the Deneb engine and is designed to move payloads from low Earth orbit to medium Earth orbit, geostationary orbit, heliocentric, lunar, and other planetary orbits. Mira is flight-proven and supports hosting, deployment, and rendezvous and proximity operations across any orbit.

Founder and CEO Tom Mueller said the funding supports growth across people, products, and facilities. "We're building a team of top talent across disciplines to deliver on very strong industry demand," Mueller said. "It's an exciting time to be in the business of space, and we're proud to be defining the infrastructure that powers our future beyond Earth."

The company also appointed its first Chief Financial Officer, Adam Townsend, who joined from VIZIO, where he served as CFO and Head of HR Operations and led the company through its IPO and eventual sale to Walmart. Townsend previously held senior finance roles at CBS Corp., Showtime Networks, and ETRADE Financial. Impulse said he will shepherd its growing capital base and expanding business.

Impulse framed the raise as evidence of investor confidence in its long-term vision and its ability to serve rising demand for in-space mobility. The company said its suite of systems provides flexibility for dynamic missions across orbits in a reliable and cost-effective way.

Impulse said it is continuing to hire engineers and operators to build, test, and fly its systems, and it will carry out the VICTUS SALO 2 and VICTUS SALO 3 missions supported by its Space Safari Office contract extension, alongside its position in the NSSL Phase 3 Lane 1 program.
