Satellite direct-to-device startup Elveo Mobile has selected Apex Space to produce its planned 320-satellite constellation, handing the California manufacturer a major platform order. The decision sets the production path for Elveo's D2D network and validates Apex's high-rate manufacturing model.

Elveo Mobile is the result of the merger of Lynk Global and Omnispace. The company announced on September 14 that it had chosen Apex's "Factory X" satellite-production model to build the constellation at a dedicated facility using Lynk intellectual property.

Apex's business model applies its Octopus operating system to produce satellite platforms at a high rate for multiple customers. Elveo said the first Apex-designed production facility will be located in the United States before scaling.

The choice commits Apex to manufacturing the full 320-satellite fleet for Elveo's satellite direct-to-device service. The order marks a significant production commitment from the merged operator and directs the platform work to Apex under its Factory X approach.

The 320-satellite order represents a serious commitment from a merged challenger in the satellite direct-to-device market, and the selection of Apex is a notable endorsement of the manufacturer's mass-production pitch. The order size signals that direct-to-device is moving from demonstrations toward full-fleet deployment.

Elveo said the first Apex production facility will be established in the United States before the manufacturer scales further.
